My 150 words pitch...

UI Kills!

User Interface is a mirror to the innate qualities of product. All the efforts of the great minds that went into making the products, the time and money invested would be prodigal; if it isn’t communicated in the language of the user. The responsibility of the UI designer is to collaborate with the development team right from the initial phase, understand the product and develop a UI that effectively presents it to the consumer.

This has to be a person whose forte lies in UI design, who is a keen observer; with an uncompromising attention to details, and has the sensitivity to appreciate the technology behind the screen, to strike a balance between what is best for the user and what is technically feasible.

Along with these innate qualities, one has to have the passion to learn new skills, hone existing ones and take up new responsibilities.
